We have a number of services and clinics available at our Practice. In order to attend an appointment only clinic or surgery, please ring the reception or follow any details provided with the clinic information.

Interpreting Service – We can arrange interpretation and translation services in person or by telephone for patients where English is not their first language.  Please let us know if you require this service when booking your appointment.

Minor surgery – Performed by the GP – joint injections and aspirations, curettage, cautery and cryotherapy. Patients must be assessed by the doctor prior to making an appointment.

Smoking Cessation – The Practice Nurse is available to offer advice and assistance on stopping smoking.

Asthma Clinic/COPD – This is run by the Practice nurse by appointment only.  All asthma/COPD patients are recalled when their annual check is due. 

Diabetic Clinic – Held monthly by appointment with our Practice Nurse. Patients will be called automatically for an annual diabetic review.

Coronary Heart Disease Clinics – Patients at risk of coronary heart disease should have regular checks.  It is important patients are assessed regular and will be called automatically for an annual review. 

Family Planning – The GP and Practice Nurse are available to give advice family planning whether it be methods of contraception or advice on those patients wishing to start a family. 

Well person – A health check for men and women including blood pressure and general lifestyle advice

Women’s health – Cervical smears and advice on breast self-examination, menopause, etc.

NHS health checks – (for patients between 40-74 years of age) The check is to assess your risk of developing heart disease, stroke, kidney disease or diabetes. If there are any warning signs, then together we can do something about it. By taking early action, you can improve your health and prevent the onset of these conditions. There is good evidence for this.

Older person – An annual check-up is recommended for patients over 75 years of age.

Child Health/Childhood Immunisations – Held on a Monday afternoon.  Immunisations by appointment with the Practice nurse.  There is no Health Visitor based at the Practice, parents/guardians wishing to have their baby weighed and see the Health Visitor can do so at Fulwell Medical Centre on a Monday 1.30 – 3.30pm or Monkwearmoouth Health Centre on a Wednesday 10.00 – 11.30am.

Ante-natal Clinic – The midwives run our antenatal clinic at the surgery on a Tuesday afternoon where they provide care and advice during pregnancy. 

Travel Advice – Immunisations/Vaccinations – Please make an appointment with the Practice Nurse at least six weeks in advance of your holiday to ensure adequate cover. 

District Nurses – Our team of district nurses provide home nursing care and also run our Treatment Room service at the surgery ( by appointment only) which includes procedures such as ear syringing, blood tests, removal of stitches, wound care and changing dressings.

Weight Management – Diet and lifestyle advice for anyone seeking assistance.

Non-NHS Examinations – The doctor is happy to carry out medicals, eg insurance and driving licence by appointment.  There will be a charge for these.  Please ask at reception.
